Job description
An Operations Manager for a rent-a-car business in the UAE, especially with a focus on complying with RTA (Roads and Transport Authority) rules, should possess a diverse skill set to efficiently manage the operations. Being well-versed in UAE RTA rules and regulations is critical for ensuring compliance and operational efficiency.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Handling Rental Agents:
- Oversee rental agents’ activities, including customer interactions, vehicle reservations, and rental agreements.
- Ensure agents provide excellent customer service and adhere to company policies and RTA regulations.
Fleet Management:
- Manage the rental fleet, including vehicle maintenance, inspections, and scheduling.
- Optimize fleet utilization to maximize revenue and minimize downtime.
Non-Rental Operations:
- Supervise non-rental aspects, such as vehicle cleaning, maintenance facilities, and logistics.
- Ensure all vehicles are well-maintained, clean, and ready for rental at all times.
Dispatch Management:
- Oversee dispatch operations to ensure timely vehicle delivery and pickup.
- Coordinate with drivers and agents for efficient dispatch processes.
Managing Teams:
- Lead and manage a team of 30-40 employees, including rental agents, drivers, and support staff.
- Provide guidance, coaching, and performance evaluations to team members.
Compliance with RTA Rules:
- Stay updated on UAE RTA regulations and ensure full compliance in all operational aspects.
- Implement RTA requirements related to vehicle inspections, permits, and documentation.
Customer Relations:
- Address customer inquiries, complaints, and requests promptly and professionally.
- Implement strategies to enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.
Cost Management:
- Monitor operational expenses and implement cost-effective measures.
- Optimize resource allocation to achieve budgetary goals.
Safety and Security:
- Ensure the safety and security of vehicles, employees, and customers.
- Develop and enforce safety protocols and emergency response procedures.
Performance Metrics:
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Regularly analyze data to identify areas for improvement.
Technology Integration:
- Implement and utilize rental management software and tracking systems for fleet and operations management.
Regulatory Compliance:
- Collaborate with regulatory authorities, such as RTA, to maintain necessary permits and licenses.
- Ensure all vehicles meet safety and emission standards.
Business Growth:
- Contribute to business growth by identifying opportunities for expansion, such as opening new branches or diversifying services.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field
- Proven experience (10+ years) in operations management in the car rental industry is mandatory.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in using fleet management software and other relevant tools.
- Financial acumen and budget management experience.
- Strong communication and customer service skills.
- Knowledge of local and state regulations related to the car rental industry.
- Ability to work flexible hours and handle high-pressure situations.
- Valid driver’s license.
